1 replies... ear infection/mastoiditis with mrsa posted by ali last reply june 2, 2018 at 02:31 started january 11, 2006 at 19:19 i am a 30 year old otherwise healthy female, mother of a 4-yr-old & 2-yr-old. in november i got hit out of the blue with a terrible ear infection, which was intensely painful. after a few weeks of multiple anitbiotics(both pills and drops) with no improvement, a culture was finally done on the discharge coming from my middle ear, and i was diagnosed as having the dreaded mrsa. now, after having been on zyvox 600mg bid for over a month, my ear pain is gone, and i've got some hearing back, but am totally zapped of energy. also, i now have pain that comes and goes from my mastoid bone, as well as some lingering dizziness, which i'm not sure is because of my middle ear infection or because of the zyvox. a recent ct scan showed that my mastoid is infected, so my ent put a tube in my ear, and am on the zyvox for another 2 weeks. if i'm not better clinically(he's not saying anything about a follow-up ct scan?!), then i'm probably going to have mastoid surgery. i've also seen an infec... read more 24 replies... will it ever go away?
